Applying for Committees

Any currently enrolled USYD students (including non-law students) may apply for as many committees as they like. For a successful applicant, you are expected to commit, on average, 2-3 hours of your time per week in each role.

Application opens in March each year, and will be announced on our social media platforms. All applications should apply by email to the relevant committee, including any information as requested (e.g. resume and cover letter) in our recruitment announcement. Interviews will usually be given on a rolling basis starting from the date of announcement, and results will be given within 5 business days after interview.

While each committee has its own application criteria, the following qualities are generally sought after:

  • A genuine passion for the work of the committee;
  • A willingness to commit for at least a semester; and
  • Relevant skills and experience.

We acknowledge that not every members has the experience and knowledge of CLSS, but please do not let an absence of such things deter you from applying! Committees are a great way to involve yourself with CLSS for the first time, and the Executive Members are well aware of this. Passion is truly the most important quality to have!

USYD Chinese Law Students Society acknowledges the traditional custodians of this land, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation.

The University of Sydney is on the sovereign land of these people. As students, we recognise our complicity in the ongoing colonisation of Indigenous land. In recognition of our privilege, we vow to not only include, but to prioritise and centre the experiences of Indigenous people, and to be reflective when we fail to be a counterpoint to the racism that plagues the mainstream media.
